Help choosing a phone, tablet or computer

The right device makes everything easier. Before you buy, I'll sit down with you, learn what you want to do, and help you pick something simple that fits your needs and budget.

What I can help with

  • Talk through what you want to do: calls, video chats with family, photos, email, reading or games
  • Decide between a phone, a tablet or a computer, or whether you need a new one at all
  • Compare two or three good options in plain words, with prices
  • Pick a device with large text, a clear screen and simple controls
  • Choose a sensible phone plan without paying for extras you won't use
  • Check the device works with the family's phones, for photos and video calls
  • Help you order online, or give you a short list to take to the store
  • Set it up for you once it arrives, so it's ready to use

Simple beats fancy

The best device is the one you’ll actually enjoy using. Often that’s a basic, easy model, not the newest or most expensive one.

Already bought one?

No problem. I can set it up and show you how to use it. See new computer setup and phone and tablet help.

Price

Questions

Do you sell phones, tablets or computers?

No. I don't sell anything or get paid by any store, so my advice is only about what's right for you.

Is an iPad or a computer better for a senior?

It depends on what you want to do. For video calls, photos, email and reading, a tablet like an iPad is often the easiest. If you type a lot or manage files, a simple laptop may suit you better. We'll work it out together.

Can you set up the new device too?

Yes. Once it arrives, I can set it up, move your contacts and photos, and show you how to use it.
